ブランドの創立者であるボビークヌッドソン、ケーシーウィットらは、LAから約100km南下した小さな町NEWPORT BEACHで生まれた。SURF CITYとしては世界的に有名なハンティントンビーチの高校を卒業後、プロに転向し世界中をサーフし、97年ROIALを設立。
